Ynot's point is well taken. The WT point here, and elsewhere about the GB, is the equivalent of the scribes in Jesus day quoting other dead scribes for their authority. Just because congregation procedure has been handled a certain way for a long time does not bolster any related claim, or make it more scriptural. Just like when you see them say "as this journal has pointed out for many years..." to bolster their credibility for their latest power grab.

The Horsemen of the Apocalypse
by snowbird inthe official wt stance is that these horsemen began their ride in 1914.. at the time i began my "bible study" with the jw's, i bought into that with all the zeal of an old testament prophet.. however, i submit if those horsemen set out in 1914, they either lost their way and vanished, or the horses ditched their riders and returned to their stables.. what say you?.

It is true that the Horseman and the events since 1914 do not match. Try looking at Revelation as being written before 70CE and applying to the last days of the Jewish system of things and it makes a lot more sense.

Why do you think Jesus never wrote anything down?
by journey-on inif his message was to be followed like a rule book, wouldn't he have written down some things with his own hand?.

It would put him in the same boat as many other so-called prophets who claimed to have a divine revelation and then started a religion. The only record is from eye-witnesses, assuming you have faith in these things

In Two Weeks: Follow the Lamb (Watchtower Study)
by united states inis anybody else courious about this discussion.
it seems as though they hide the fact that it is about the governing body up until the end when it says that they represent the fds.

This article is part of the "gradualism" of the GB. Take the main points and add them to the June 15 article ("The Faithful Steward and its Governing Body" being discussed in a number of places on this site) and it becomes clear that they are moving toward the "clarification" that the GB is what is really is: the faithful slave.
Of course, this would mean that a rhetorical question in the midst of a parable, is the greatest greatest prophecy in the bible -- only by understanding Jesus riddle can we obtain organizational salvation.

For what's is worth (since this topic comes up frequently) here are, in simple terms, the primary teachings the Society has used to define the "Generation".
1897 – A group of contemporary people
“ Other uses of this Greek word (genea) prove that it is not used with the significance of race, but in reference to people living contemporaneously.” – Studies in the Scriptures Vol. 4, p. 602-03,
1927 – The anointed
“The irresistible conclusion therefore is that Jesus referred to the new creation when he said: “This generation shall not pass until all these things be fulfilled.” This then would be a strong indication that some members of the new creation will be on the earth at the time of Armageddon.” – Watchtower, February 15, 1927
1951 – A fixed period of time from 1914
"The length of time is indicated by him when he said, "Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur." (Matt. 24:34) The actual meaning of these words is, beyond question, that which takes a "generation" in the ordinary sense, as at Mark 8:12 and Acts 13:36, or for those who are living at the given period." – Watchtower, July 1, 1951 p.404
1995 – A group of contemporary people
“…Jesus was not departing from his established use of the term “this generation,” which he consistently applied to the contemporary masses with their “blind guides” who together made up the Jewish nation.” – Watchtower, November 1, 1995
2008 – The anointed
As a class, these anointed ones make up the modern-day "generation" of contemporaries that will not pass away "until all these things occur." This suggests that some who are Christ's anointed brothers will still be alive on earth when the foretold great tribulation begins. – Watchtower, February 15, 2008
